My Week Without Caffeine: How It’s Going So Far

Let’s talk caffeine. It’s my daily go-to, like many of you, but every now and then, I hit pause—to reset, recharge, and give my body a break. Right now, I’m trying for baby number two (🤞), so it felt like the perfect time to ditch the coffee and focus on being my healthiest self. Cutting out caffeine isn’t about punishment or restriction for me—it’s about creating space for better habits. With the holidays around the corner (and lots of early mornings with my toddler, Harrison), I want to head into this season feeling clear-headed, energized, and ready for whatever comes next. Here’s how it’s been going so far.

When Did I Start? Okay, confession time: I technically only started on Tuesday. Why? After spending an arm and a leg on simple Starbucks latte on Monday, I decided it was time for a break. That gingerbread latte may have been delicious, but it also inspired me to commit to this reset.

Tuesday + Wednesday: Instead of going completely cold turkey, I switched to decaf. Honestly I think one of the things I love most about my morning coffee is actually the routine. By the end of the day, I felt like I could crawl into bed at 6 PM. The exhaustion hit hard, but I reminded myself this is part of the process. My body is adjusting, and I’m letting it do its thing.

Thursday: By Thursday, I felt a little more balanced. Yes, I was still tired by the evening, but getting into bed was the most satisfying thing. I fell asleep almost instantly and slept like a rock.

Friday (so far): Waking up feeling truly rested is something I’ve missed since having my son. I slept amazing, Harrison slept amazing, and I feel like a new person today! I still had a little decaf latte this morning, but I’m planning to try cutting that out tomorrow to see how it goes.

Final Thoughts: So far this week has reminded me that it’s okay to pause, reassess, and tune into what my body needs right now. Stay tuned for a full recap of how the week pans out!
